Job summary

Shanahan Engineering requires a Distribution Protection Specialist Lead for the PAC Systems team. You will develop standardised PAC IED configurations and schematics, mentor engineers, and conduct homologation testing to ensure DSO performance.

Travel to project locations will be required, with hybrid work blending remote and site collaboration. Based in Ireland, the role demands a Level 8 Electrical Engineering degree, a valid Irish driving licence, and 7+ years in protection engineering or PAC

Qualifications

• NFQ Level 8 Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Full Irish driving licence and access to a car.
• 7+ years post-qualification experience in detailed substation secondary designs or PAC application engineering.
• Experience in PAC IED specifications and tender evaluations.
• Strong knowledge of power system protection principles and protection devices.
• Delivery focus with safety, time, quality and cost objectives.
• Strong commercial and project management capability.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Flexible approach to deliver excellent customer service.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.
• Proven track record of developing technical professionals.

Responsibilities

• Develop standardised PAC IED configurations and schematics to meet DSO requirements.
• Mentor and lead distribution protection engineers within the team.
• Conduct homologation testing with commissioning specialists to verify performance.
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules and tender documentation for PAC IEDs.
• Conduct design reviews, stakeholder training and management.
• Provide technical leadership to PAC stakeholders.
• Deliver projects on time, managing costs and commercial performance.
