Job summary

E-Frontiers is seeking an experienced Distribution Protection Specialist Lead to drive protection engineering for distribution-substation projects from 10 kV to 38 kV. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on design of PAC IED configurations, settings templates and schematic drawings.

You will mentor protection engineers, run homologation testing with commissioning teams and contribute to tender documentation and reviews across Ireland, with portlaoise lab work and travel to

Qualifications

• At least seven years’ post-qualification experience in substation secondary-systems design or PAC application engineering.
• Level 8 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Full Irish driving licence and access to a car.
• Legal right to work in Ireland.
• Current Safe Pass and manual-handling certificates.
• Strong knowledge of power-system protection principles, devices and related software.
• Experience developing PAC IED specifications and evaluating technical tenders.

We are partnering with a leading organisation in Ireland's energy sector to recruit an experienced Distribution Protection Specialist Lead.

This is a senior technical role supporting distribution-substation projects operating from 10 kV to 38 kV. You will develop standardised Protection, Automation and Control solutions, including intelligent electronic device configurations, settings templates and schematic designs, while providing technical leadership to protection engineers.

• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to protection engineers
• Conducting homologation testing with commissioning specialists
• Preparing PAC IED specifications and tender documentation
• Completing technical evaluations of tender submissions
• Leading protection design reviews and stakeholder training
• Supporting the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of projects

The team is open to candidates based in either Dublin or Cork, with attendance at the selected base location two days per week. Regular attendance at a specialist protection laboratory in Portlaoise will be required, including extended periods depending on the programme, alongside occasional travel to substations throughout Ireland.
