Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking an Associate Director for Process Engineering at APICOM in Dublin. You will lead process engineering activities for late-stage clinical and commercial API, ensuring safe, timely manufacture at a state-of-the-art facility.

In this role you’ll mentor engineers, guide technology transfer, and align with GMP, SHE, and safety standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• A degree and / or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• Chartered Chemical Engineer status.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/fine chemical/food manufacturing.
• Understanding of unit operations and scale-up implications.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Good GMP knowledge and process safety understanding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out process engineering in a high-end manufacturing facility with autonomous operation.
• Optimize equipment performance and verify engineering calculations for accuracy.
• Own critical processes and support audits as SME on process matters.
• Lead or participate in risk assessments (HAZOPs/HAZIDs/Process Risk Assessments).
• Provide guidance on large capital projects ensuring SHE and GMP alignment.
• Apply knowledge to evaluate new technology and support transfer to APICOM.
• Mentor junior colleagues and university students.
