Job summary

Uniting Holding is seeking an Academic Manager to oversee the academic department, including learner management, teacher support, and policy adherence. The role focuses on curriculum development, assessment design, and staff development to ensure high teaching standards.

The position requires a degree plus TEFL qualifications and a track record in English language education. You will report to the CEO and coordinate with the Board of Management to maintain quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree Level (QQI Level 7 or equivalent).
  • DELTA, Trinity Diploma in TESOL.
  • Or MA in ELT / TESOL (provided that they meet the validation, entry requirements, teaching practice and input criteria).

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Studies will oversee the academic department's duties.
  • Oversee curriculum development across English language programmes.
  • Develop assessment materials and review weekly lesson plans for alignment with the programme curriculum.
  • Induct new English language teaching staff and address student complaints.
  • Organise and report on peer reviews and teacher observations.
  • Provide support to new/inexperienced teachers and conduct staff appraisals.
  • Maintain weekly teacher meetings to ensure effective performance and open communication.
  • Coordinate with senior management and external stakeholders as directed.
