Cook Medical Ireland seeks a Director of Manufacturing Operations to lead the Operations function across Production, Procurement, Quality Control, Facilities and EH&S from Limerick. You will drive short-, middle-, and long-term objectives, ensuring quality systems compliance and audits are completed.

This role reports to the VP and GM and requires strategic leadership to align demand, supply and business goals, while managing budgets and cost controls across multiple sites in Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Third level degree or equivalent management experience at a senior level.
  • Understanding of Production & Supply Chain management and budgeting.
  • Experience with European medical device markets is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with quality management system and facilitate audits.
  • Own the local SIOP process and governance, aligning demand, supply and business objectives.
  • Develop and manage budgets and expenses for the department.
  • Monitor productivity and staffing, drive continuous improvement and cost control.
  • Coordinate with Cook Ireland and other sites to meet corporate goals and supply needs.
  • Ensure safety, health and environmental requirements are met and communicated.
  • Travel as required for business.

Job description

The primary function of this role is to provide leadership and direction to the Operations function within Cook Ireland, which is made up of Production, Procurement, Quality Control, Facilities, and Health, Safety & Environment, taking overall responsibility for ensuring efficient processes from production through to distribution of Cook Medical products, in compliance with the company’s quality management system. Taking global functional direction, the Director, Manufacturing Operations is a member of the CIRL senior leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop short, medium and long term objectives for the Operations Function to support overall company goals and objectives.
  • Minimum 7 years management experience leading Manufacturing Operations.
  • Develop, implement and maintain operational-level strategies to meet these objectives and monitor performance against them.
  • Work with all areas, both inside and outside the remit of this role, to support smooth and efficient running of the Operations function.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant quality system policies and procedures; facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Liaise with management of the Divisions to ensure best fit operational support is in place.
  • Liaise with other Cook manufacturing sites to facilitate inter-company communication to meet corporate operational goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets and expenses for department.
  • Monitor and control all purchasing and overhead costs in area of responsibility.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Monitor productivity of group and individuals, recommend changes where necessary.
  • Continually review supply chain to ensure customer satisfaction with regard to delivery and ensure best practice is maintained in line with established quality guidelines.
  • Department to liaise with third party suppliers to ensure adequate supply of raw material and the smooth running of all inward logistics.
  • Manage health, safety and environmental requirements, as required by legislation, to ensure that all Cook’s obligations are met.
  • Undertake people management responsibilities to the direct reports to this role, including but not restricted to, generating training and development plans, carrying out performance appraisals and dealing with performance related issues.
  • Own the local SIOP process and governance framework, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and business objectives; provide strategic direction and oversight for senior managers leading SIOP execution through their planning teams.
  • Provide coaching and support to direct reports in their day-to-day roles and act as a point of escalation where necessary for specific issues that may arise.
  • Ensure open communication channels are maintained across all teams within the Operations function, and that all relevant information is cascaded appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • Seek out continuous improvement best practice with an emphasis on what can be learned and implemented at Cook Ireland to drive a best in class operation and eliminate waste from the processes.
  • Comply with travel and subsistence rules and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the Cook brand and image is communicated in a positive and consistent manner to all customers, both external and internal.
  • Ensure that Cook’s Code of Conduct is considered in all business matters carried out on Cook’s behalf.
Qualifications
  • Third level degree in a relevant field of study and/or relevant management experience at a senior level, in a complex, multi-disciplined environment.
  • Understanding of commercial implications of Production & Supply Chain management, including experience of financial planning and budgeting.
  • Experience of the European medical device market would be a decided advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft® Office is a prerequisite.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • High self-motivation.
  • Willingness and availability to travel on company business.
