U.S. Bank seeks a Director of Credit Portfolio Risk to lead the European Credit Risk Management function.

The role reports to the Chief Credit Officer for Europe and combines delegated credit approval authority with portfolio oversight and governance leadership across corporate lending and structured credit. Qualifications

• Typically 15–20 years’ experience in credit risk management within European or international banking.
• Experience operating under delegated credit authority with independent challenge on complex transactions.
• Exposure to multiple asset classes, including structured credit exposure.
• Strong understanding of European regulatory expectations and risk governance.

Responsibilities

• Credit decisioning & approval authority framework oversight across portfolios.
• Governance & committee leadership to improve agenda, materials, and debate quality.
• Portfolio stewardship with forward-looking risk appetite analysis and issues escalation.
• Management information framework delivering clear risk insights to senior stakeholders.
• Cross-functional leadership across Risk, Finance, Treasury, and first line of defence.
• Leadership & people management of a small team of second-line credit approvers.
