RIP.ie is looking to hire a dynamic and creative Digital Content Editor to spearhead our content strategy across our website, social media platforms and our award-winning podcast, Parting Words, Ireland's number one grief podcast.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and implement a comprehensive content plan that will captivate our audience, build a community and drive engagement.
You will take full ownership of our Parting Words podcast, from production and distribution through to promotion and our live event series, while leading a small team of in-house and freelance talent.
The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail and the ability to identify and craft compelling content. Your expertise in SEO and digital marketing techniques will be crucial in elevating our online presence, and your commercial instincts will help turn our content into measurable results. Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Social Media Management
- Research and develop engaging written, audio and video content for all digital platforms including websites, social media, blogs, and email newsletters.
- Manage and maintain the content calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met, and content is optimised for search engines.
- Oversee content creation, editing, and publishing, ensuring it meets company guidelines and standards.
- Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to increase engagement, website traffic, and social media followers/readership.
- Develop branded content solutions in partnership with the Media Solutions team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure our digital channels are cutting‑edge and relevant.
Parting Words Podcast
- Take editorial and operational ownership of Parting Words, Ireland's number one grief podcast, from concept and guest booking through to recording, edit sign-off and publication.
- Manage distribution across all podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, YouTube and others), ensuring metadata, artwork and show notes are optimised for discovery.
- Plan and deliver the promotional campaign for each series and episode, including social, email, on‑site placement, PR and paid support.
- Build and maintain relationships with guests, contributors, production partners and podcast platform teams.
- Monitor listenership, retention and audience growth data, and use it to shape future commissioning decisions.
Parting Words Live
- Own the end‑to‑end delivery of Parting Words Live, our live event series. including venue sourcing, scheduling, budgeting, supplier management and on‑the‑day running.
- Programme each event, securing speakers, guests and hosts appropriate to the audience and the sensitivity of the subject matter.
- Lead ticketing, audience acquisition and the full marketing campaign for each event.
- Capture and repurpose live content across digital and podcast channels to extend its reach beyond the room.
- Report on attendance, revenue, audience feedback and commercial return for each event.
- Manage, mentor and develop the Digital Media Executive, setting clear objectives and supporting their growth.
- Build, brief and manage a team of freelance content creators — writers, videographers, editors and producers. including sourcing, onboarding and quality control.
- Manage freelance budgets and commissioning schedules, ensuring value for money and consistent output.
- Foster a collaborative, high‑standard culture across the content team, with clear feedback and regular reviews.
KPI Ownership & Reporting
- Own the content KPI framework across web, social, email, podcast and live events — defining targets, tracking performance and reporting on progress.
- Report regularly to senior leadership on audience growth, engagement, traffic, search performance, podcast metrics and event outcomes.
- Use performance data to continuously refine the content strategy and reallocate resource to what works.
Skills & Experience
- At least 5-7 years experience leading, developing and executing content strategies that deliver measurable results, including audience growth, engagement, traffic and commercial objectives.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling content across text, video, audio, email and social platforms.
- Strong knowledge of SEO, content optimisation, digital marketing and social media best practices, with experience using analytics to inform content decisions.
- Hands‑on experience producing, commissioning or managing podcasts, including planning, guest management, distribution, promotion and performance analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
- Commercially minded, with an understanding of branded content, sponsorship opportunities and how content can support revenue generation and business growth.
- Innovative, Empathetic and audience‑focused, with the ability to create engaging content around sensitive and meaningful life topics with authenticity, care and professionalism.
