Emerald Locums, on behalf of our client, are recruiting for an experienced Senior Dietitian to join the Acute Hospital Services team in Donegal. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering excellent career progression and the chance to make a real impact in a leading hospital setting.

Role Purpose

The Senior Dietitian will deliver a high-quality, evidence-based clinical nutrition and dietetic service within acute hospital settings. The successful candidate will provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care while contributing to the ongoing development of dietetic services in line with HSE, CORU, and HIQA standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and nutrition care planning for patients across acute hospital services
  • Lead on service development, including audits, quality improvement projects, and evaluation initiatives
  • Actively participate in MDT ward rounds, case conferences, and clinical meetings
  • Support menu and therapeutic diet development in collaboration with catering services
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to junior and student dietitians
  • Contribute to policy, business planning, and service delivery improvements
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant governance frameworks
  • Deputise for the Dietitian Manager as required
Requirements
  • Recognised qualification in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  • CORU registration as a Dietitian (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification clinical experience, with substantial acute hospital exposure
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and supervision experience
  • Strong clinical knowledge in acute care, with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience in audit, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
