Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a solid Google Cloud Platform background to join our clients engineering team in Ireland. You will help design, build and support cloud infrastructure, automate processes and enable development teams to deliver scalable, secure applications.

You'll work with GCP services, Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tooling to improve reliability and speed.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong automation and scripting skills (Terraform, Bash, Python).
• Proficient in containerization, Kubernetes and cloud security basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop and manage IaC using Terraform or similar tools.
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines for software delivery.
• Manage Kubernetes environments including GKE.
• Implement monitoring and logging for platform reliability.
• Automate provisioning, deployments and processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve scalability and security.
• Support incident management and root cause analysis.

DevOps Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join a growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to help design, build and support cloud infrastructure, improve automation and enable development teams to deliver secure, scalable and highly available applications.

Working closely with software engineers, platform teams and stakeholders, you'll play a key role in driving cloud adoption, improving operational efficiency and implementing modern DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tooling.
• Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support software delivery.
• Manage and support Kubernetes environments, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to improve platform reliability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments and operational processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve scalability, resilience and security.
• Support incident management, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to cloud governance, best practices and platform improvements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation where required.

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and automation principles.
• Experience supporting production environments within GCP.
• Knowledge of containerisation and Kubernetes best practices.
• Familiarity with networking, security and identity management within cloud environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
• Experience working within Agile environments is advantageous.
