Job summary

Fortivum in Ireland is seeking a Design Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background to coordinate multidisciplinary design delivery on hyperscale data centre projects.

You will oversee the overall design process, working closely with external consultants, contractors and project teams to ensure all disciplines deliver a coordinated, buildable solution. Fortivum offers ownership of design delivery on major projects and opportunities to grow engineering capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design, design coordination or design management.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and multidisciplinary design interfaces.
• Experience working with external design consultants and project delivery teams.
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Data centre or mission-critical project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across MEP, CSA and specialist disciplines.
• Manage external design consultants, design deliverables and programme milestones.
• Chair design coordination meetings, technical workshops and design reviews.
• Identify and resolve design interfaces, technical risks and coordination issues.
• Provide technical oversight and challenge on mechanical systems, including HVAC and cooling infrastructure.
• Represent client interests throughout design development, construction and commissioning.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Design Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background to coordinate and manage multidisciplinary design delivery on hyperscale data centre projects.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design, design coordination or design management.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and multidisciplinary design interfaces.
• Experience working with external design consultants and project delivery teams.
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Data centre or mission-critical project experience is advantageous.
