ESB is driving Ireland's net zero journey by expanding its public EV charging network across ROI, NI and the UK. This role provides expert electrical input to designs, produces site‑specific drawings with safety plans, and manages pre‑construction activities.
You will perform design calculations, review utility offers, visit sites, and coordinate with DNOs, contractors and authorities, supporting delivery through construction and energisation while promoting ESB eCars standard processes.
Electrification of transport is a key pillar of ESB’s Net Zero 2040 Strategy – reducing the carbon impact from transport and improving air-quality while growing our business. ESB owns and operates a publicly available Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network on the island of Ireland and are currently upgrading and expanding the RoI, NI and UK networks.
The nature of the deployment means that a variety of locations will be progressed for installation, including roads, highways, Council and 3rd party land including petrol forecourts. The successful candidate will be required to provide expert electrical input to the designs, produce site‑specific physical drawings of the development with associated design risk assessments, preliminary health and safety plans in addition to managing the network application processes.
The candidate may also be required on occasion to manage ESB’s subcontractors throughout the pre‑construction and construction phases. Engagement in project management meetings, both internal and external facing and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively will be a requirement.
This position will be based in Swift Square, Santry, Co. Dublin.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in‑person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in‑person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.
