Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer/BCAR Specialist to join our dynamic HSTA (Health & Safety Technical Advisory) Division in Dublin / Castlebar / Galway / Limerick / Sligo (location flexible with hybrid working options). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of refurbishment and construction projects, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions from concept through to completion.
As a Design Engineer/BCAR Specialist, you will play a key role in project coordination, design management, and quality assurance, while also developing your expertise in regulatory compliance and certification services.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the role of Assigned Certifier in accordance with BCAR, ensuring all statutory obligations are met throughout the design and construction phases.
- Coordinate and verify compliance documentation, including inspection plans, certificates, and ancillary reports.
- Liaise with design teams, contractors, and building control authorities to ensure robust certification processes and timely submissions.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Assist in the planning, execution, and delivery of refurbishment and construction projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure seamless integration of design elements across disciplines and project phases.
- Support the preparation and coordination of tender documentation, including issuing tenders, evaluating submissions, and assisting in contract award processes.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards. Prepare detailed reports and documentation for project stakeholders.
- Upon completion of relevant training, provide services as a Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Assigned Certifier, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and best practices
- Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Skills
- Level 8 Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of design and construction processes.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in relevant design and project management software.
- Willingness to undertake training for PSDP and Assigned Certifier roles.
