Job summary

TLI Group in Limerick is seeking a Fibre Design Engineer to develop accurate, efficient and buildable fibre network designs. You will work with surveying, project and construction teams to ensure designs meet client, quality and safety requirements, based out of our Limerick Crecora Office.

The role focuses on preparing detailed designs for fibre networks, reviewing survey data, and producing BOMs while ensuring compliance with HSQE standards and project specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in fibre network design and GIS/CAD workflows.
• Ability to interpret surveys, maps and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication with clients and project teams.
• Full driving licence with occasional site travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-level and detailed fibre network designs for overhead and underground routes.
• Produce route maps, schematics, design packs, splice plans and BOMs.
• Utilise GIS and CAD tools to create and maintain design data.
• Review survey data and existing records to propose cost-efficient routes.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, project managers and construction teams to resolve queries.
• Complete design reviews, manage revisions and maintain as-built docs.
• Ensure designs comply with client standards, HSQE requirements and project specs.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare high-level and detailed designs for overhead and underground fibre networks.
• Produce route maps, network schematics, design packs, splice plans and bills of materials.
• Use GIS and CAD systems to create, review and maintain accurate design information.
• Review survey data and existing network records to develop practical, cost-effective routes.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, project managers and construction teams to resolve design queries.
• Complete design reviews, manage revisions and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with client standards, HSQE requirements and project specifications.

Qualifications & Skills

• Relevant qualification in Telecommunications, Engineering, GIS or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience (Desirable)
• Experience in fibre network design, telecommunications planning or a similar role. (Desirable)
• Knowledge of fibre architecture and overhead and underground infrastructure.
• Experience with GIS or CAD software such as ArcGIS, QGIS or AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret surveys, maps, utility records and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence, with occasional site travel as required.
