Job summary

Volantes Technical Recruitment Ltd seeks a Chief Engineer to lead an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) in Northern Ireland. You will own safety, compliance and team performance across a diverse, mission-critical fleet supporting UK and international ops.

Reporting to Operations, you will mentor Managers and Team Leaders, drive continuous improvement and ensure maintenance programmes are delivered safely, on time and within budget. Occasional travel required.

Qualifications

• UK unrestricted CAA Part 66 licence or equivalent military background.
• Extensive maintenance management experience in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience leading maintenance operations within an AMO.
• Strong knowledge of UK CAA, UK MAA and EASA regulations.
• Understanding of SMS and aviation compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001/45001/27001.
• Proven leadership and development of engineering teams.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance function in line with CAA/MAA/EASA and org requirements.
• Ensure maintenance is safe, compliant and delivered on time.
• Develop Engineering Delivery Managers, Crew Chiefs and Team Leaders.
• Build a strong safety, quality and compliance culture.
• Ensure manpower, tooling, equipment and facilities meet demand.
• Oversee maintenance planning and programme delivery.
• Maintain accurate release-to-service certificates and records.
• Support investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Lead closure of audit findings and regulatory actions.
• Maintain ISO management systems compliance.
• Mentor staff and drive continuous improvement.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across regulatory and commercial priorities.
• Support UK and overseas operations, with travel as needed.
• Deliver programmes within budget.
