Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association Mayo is offering a developmental opportunity at our day centre in the region. No prior experience is required, and accredited training will be provided to support your career pathway.

You will assist with activities for members with physical and/or sensory disabilities, including organising programmes, escorting to and from the centre by bus, helping with meals and personal care, and carrying out light cleaning duties. Garda vetting and references will be requested.

Qualifications

Job description

Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Duties would include: encouraging members to be actively involved in programmes within the service. (Boccia, bowling, music, yoga etc...) Escorting members to and from the centre on the bus. Assisting with personal care when required. Assisting with meals and light refreshments. General cleaning duties. Opportunity and support to obtain QQI qualifications.
