Job summary

Fanatics Betting and Gaming is seeking a Data Scientist I to join the growing Data Science team. You will partner with commercial stakeholders to derive insights that drive growth for Sportsbook and Casino, and you will help implement data-driven solutions across products.

The role focuses on high-level analytics, experimentation, and the development of personalized experiences in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to grow within a global gaming platform.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience in data science or analytics is preferred (0-2 years).
  • Strong SQL and Python proficiency evident in model building and validation.
  • Understanding of regression, clustering, and A/B testing in fast-growth environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep understanding of iGaming ecosystem across Sportsbook and Casino.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive commercial performance with data-driven insight.
  • Work with data scientists and analysts to implement scalable, data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to personalization and promotion engines across iGaming products.
  • Stay current on ML trends and competitive shifts in sports betting and gaming.

About the Team

Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fanatics Betting and Gaming operates twenty-two retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at Northwest Stadium. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is headquartered in New York with offices in Denver, Leeds and Dublin.

We are seeking a Data Scientist I to join our growing Data Science organization on our newly formed Data Science team. The role reports into the Data Science Director and will focus on creating insight to drive the growth of the business, partnering closely with senior commercial stakeholders and their teams.

Supporting commercial and analytics stakeholders with high level Sportsbook & Casino strategy will be a top priority for this Data Scientist, as well as providing ongoing analysis and recommendations to stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the iGaming ecosystem, encompassing both Sportsbook and Casino products, operations, and player behavior..
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across both Sports and Casino business units, serving as a key technical contributor to driving total commercial performance..
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to implement and refine scalable solutions for complex iGaming business problems..
  • Contribute to the development, deployment, and iterative improvement of automated personalization and promotion engines across the iGaming suite..
  • Remain current on technology, machine learning trends, and competitive shifts within the global sports betting and gaming industry..
Experience and Skills
  • 0-2 years proven experience in a data science or advanced analytics role..
  • Degree in a quantitative field, e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science, Economics..
  • Strong SQL proficiency and strong proficiency in Python, with experience building and validating machine learning models..
  • Strong understanding of statistics concepts such as regression, clustering, and A/B testing in high-growth environments..
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders, earning trust through data-driven insights and clear communication..
  • Outcome-oriented and data-driven; comfortable navigating fast-paced, high-growth environments..
Preferred but not required
  • Experience experimenting with Generative AI solutions (e.g., LLM-based analysis, automation, or insight generation) and identifying opportunities to apply them within a commercial analytics environment..
  • Previous experience in iGaming (Sportsbook or Casino) is a significant plus..
  • Expertise in experimental design and causal inference, including A/B/n testing, quasi-experiments, and uplift modeling to determine true incremental value..
  • Depending on the role, your interview and onboarding experience may include in-person components, such as onsite interviews or Launching into Better: LIVE—a multi-day cultural immersion in New York City for full-time, non-seasonal hires. These sessions are designed to build connection and bring our culture to life, though specific travel and participation requirements will be confirmed based on your role and location.
