Job summary

Equinix, Inc. in Dublin is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineer (Electrical) to maintain and support the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that powers our world-class data centres 24/7.

You will carry out planned preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, manage critical electrical systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear and building management systems, and work with contractors to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (apprenticeship, degree etc) required.
• Strong electrical installation, maintenance or fault-finding experience.
• Safety-first mindset with high workmanship standards.
• Proactive problem-solving and independent as well as collaborative work.
• Desirable experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction, healthcare or other critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across site infrastructure.
• Support operation of critical electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear and BMS.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to alarms and system alerts.
• Manage specialist contractors and maintenance vendors.
• Complete repairs, fault-finding and corrective maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate operational documentation and records.
• Support infrastructure improvement projects and safety initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and supporting the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that keeps our data centre operating 24/7.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across site infrastructure.
• Supporting the operation of critical electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, battery systems and building management systems.
• Conducting site inspections and responding to alarms and system alerts.
• Managing and overseeing specialist contractors and maintenance vendors.
• Completing repairs, fault-finding and corrective maintenance activities.
• Maintaining accurate operational documentation, procedures and maintenance records.
• Supporting infrastructure improvement projects and operational excellence initiatives.
• Following permit-to-work and safety processes to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assisting with incident response and troubleshooting activities when required.

Essential

• Recognised Electrical Qualification (Apprenticeship, Degree etc)
• Strong electrical installation, maintenance or fault-finding experience.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, utilities, healthcare, automation, facilities management, or other critical environments.
• Experience working with generators, UPS systems, switchgear or building management systems.
