Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineer (Electrical) in Dublin to maintain and support data centre electrical and mechanical infrastructure 24/7. The role provides training, career progression, and exposure to mission-critical systems within a global digital infrastructure environment.

You will work on UPS, generators, switchgear, and building management systems while ensuring safety, documentation, and adherence to maintenance standards across site operations.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (apprenticeship, degree or equivalent).
• Strong electrical installation, maintenance or fault-finding experience.
• Safety-first mindset with high standards of workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Desirable: experience with generators, UPS, switchgear or building management systems in critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance across site infrastructure.
• Supporting the operation of critical electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear and building management systems.
• Conducting site inspections and responding to alarms and system alerts.
• Managing and overseeing specialist contractors and maintenance vendors.
• Completing repairs, fault-finding and corrective maintenance activities.
• Maintaining accurate operational documentation, procedures and maintenance records.
• Supporting infrastructure improvement projects and operational excellence initiatives.
• Following permit-to-work and safety processes to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assisting with incident response and troubleshooting activities when required.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that keeps our data centre operating 24/7.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Recognised Electrical Qualification (Apprenticeship, Degree etc)
• Strong electrical installation, maintenance or fault‑finding experience.
• A safety‑first mindset and commitment to high standards of workmanship.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, utilities, healthcare, automation, facilities management, or other critical environments.
• Experience working with generators, UPS systems, switchgear or building management systems.
