As an Associate Director, Rebate Modeling, you will support the Optum Rx Industry Relations pre‑deal analytics team. This team drives OptumRx’s rebate strategy by forecasting and optimizing pharmaceutical and medical rebates across complex client formularies. Partnering with Underwriting, Sales, and Rebate Contracting, you will help support the design of competitive, margin‑supportive solutions, and analyze client and competitor formularies. Acting as a rebate SME, you will support Request For Proposals (RFPs), translate complex economics into clear executive insights, advise on pricing, and ensure accurate forecasting through data analysis, risk assessment, and continuous process improvement.

What You Will Do

• Assess and forecast Pharmaceutical and Medical Drug Rebates for proposed client formularies ranging from $50 million to $3 billion in rebates
• Perform critical role in the analysis of client formularies to determine client eligibility of rebates with respect to manufacturer contracts
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Sales, Client Account Management, and various cross‑functional teams to achieve new client growth and margin retention
• Identify and provide formulary recommendations to ensure rebates are market competitive to achieve new client growth and margin retention
• Analysis of competing PBM formularies and identify new rebate options to ensure OptumRx is providing market competitive rebate pricing in client’s formulary and work with Rebate Contracting team to secure new rebates in pharmaceutical manufacturer contracts
• Strategize and problem solve creatively utilizing industry, competitive, client, and rebate knowledge to formulate rebate strategies that will offer market leading rates
• Serve as a rebate SME across for Underwriting team
• Ability to work on large and complex RFPs and identify new strategies to maximize rebates to support market competition
• Ability to simplify complicated rebate information to Executive Leadership in support of their review and approval of rebate proposals
• Consult and recommend to clients/consultants alternative pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analyses and trends
• Gather, summarize and analyze detailed data. Solid aptitude for technical skills is required
• Assess the risk of pricing guarantees offered
• Create best practices to maximize efficiency and process workflow for projects with compressed timelines
• Audit forecasting tools for accuracy and troubleshoot variances in modeling

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent professional experience
• Proven experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or underwriting
• Demonstrated solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database querying
• Demonstrated solid communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated solid organizational, multitasking, and follow‑up skills

Other Useful Skills And Experience Include

• MBA, equivalent graduate degree, CPA, or CFA certification
• Demonstrated background in healthcare or pharmaceutical environments
• Demonstrated knowledge of PBM and rebate structures
• Proven experience in PBM underwriting or healthcare contracting
• Proven experience in financial consulting or auditing
