Job summary

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is seeking a Testing and Commissioning Manager for the DART+ Fleet project in Dublin 8. You will lead testing operations and manage on-site resources to ensure successful validation of new rolling stock before formal acceptance.

The role requires a strong engineering background, team leadership, safety focus, and excellent planning. The position supports a major fleet modernisation programme with long-term project duration.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, production) or similar qualifications with appropriate experience may qualify.
• Managing a team.
• Safety focus & knowledge.
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
• Results focused through excellent planning.
• Understanding of the rail regulatory environment & technical standards, or equivalent experience working within a highly regulated, safety-critical industry and applying relevant technical standards.
• Competent IT skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, etc.
• Previous experience as part of project team involved in testing of new rolling stock.
• Knowledge of railway vehicle design or similar complex engineering systems.
• Production requirements for rail vehicles knowledge / experience.
• An understanding of the technologies and environment associated with rail transportation or other highly regulated, safety-critical industries.
• Knowledge of railway standards and appropriate industry standards relevant to the railway industry or comparable highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

• Oversee testing and commissioning activities on behalf of Iarnród Éireann.
• Lead the team of craftworkers assigned to testing operations.
• Coordinate resources to support testing activities.
• Act as principal point of contact with Alstom for testing and commissioning in Ireland.
• Ensure safe, efficient delivery of the testing programme.
• Support the introduction of Ireland's new DART fleet into passenger service.
