Job summary

Ergo IT Recruitment Services seeks a Cyber Security Operations Analyst for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Dublin. This hands-on role covers monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and governance support to ensure a resilient ICT environment.

The position is hybrid (on-site/remote) and requires 1–3 years in cybersecurity, with experience in SIEM/EDR/XDR, firewalls, and vulnerability assessment, plus familiarity with ISO 27001/NIST.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity operations including incident response and threat detection.
  • Familiarity with tools such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, firewalls, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, Windows/Linux systems, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor security tools including SIEM, EDR/XDR, antivirus, email, and cloud security platforms.
  • Triage, investigate, and respond to security alerts and incidents, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
  • Support incident response activities including containment, remediation, recovery, and post‑incident reviews.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, track remediation efforts, and validate fixes through re‑scanning.
  • Monitor patch management compliance and highlight gaps or risks across systems and platforms.
  • Maintain asset visibility and ensure systems are properly onboarded to security monitoring tools.
  • Support endpoint and platform security controls, including configuration, health checks, and hardening.
  • Identify misconfigurations or control weaknesses and coordinate remediation with relevant teams.
  • Assist in security awareness initiatives such as phishing simulations and user training.
  • Support audit, risk, and compliance activities including evidence gathering and control validation.
  • Collaborate with ICT teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure effective security operations.

Overview of Role

The client is seeking a Cyber Security Operations Analyst which is a hands‑on operational role responsible for the day‑to‑day monitoring, management, and effectiveness of security controls across ICT environments. The role focuses on security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and supporting broader governance, risk, and compliance activities to ensure a resilient and secure technology environment.

Role & Responsibilities:

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, Windows/Linux systems, and security best practices.
Experience:
  • 1-3 years' experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, or IT support with security responsibilities.
  • Experience working with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or similar.
  • Proven ability to analyse, prioritise, and resolve operational security issues effectively.
Education & Certifications:
  • Relevant third-level qualification in IT, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISO 27001, Microsoft SC/AZ, or ISC2/ISACA (desirable).
