Cost Manager – Dublin Office
Support all aspects of project budgeting, procurement, and cost control. Responsible for developing and implementing cost management processes, overseeing procurement activities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and organisational policies.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement effective cost‑control processes to monitor, manage, and forecast project budgets and expenditure.
- Prepare, review, and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial constraints.
- Lead the full procurement lifecycle, including prequalification, tendering, evaluation, supplier selection, and contract preparation.
- Oversee the preparation and assessment of tender documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Produce detailed cost reports and present insights to senior management, providing recommendations to enhance financial efficiency and optimise costs.
- Work collaboratively with functional leads—including Cost Estimating, Scheduling, Scope and Benefits, and Systems Implementation—to support integrated planning and delivery.
- Partner with project managers and stakeholders to define cost objectives and monitor performance against established targets.
- Identify and assess cost‑related risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise financial exposure.
- Conduct detailed cost analyses and provide recommendations to support value‑for‑money outcomes and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Prepare and present cost reports, including variance analyses and cost projections, to support informed decision‑making.
- Proactively monitor and manage cost variances and contract cash flow, ensuring accurate and timely submission of applications. Ensure all cost‑management activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement within the cost‑management function by promoting best‑practice methodologies and innovative approaches.
- Coach and support junior team members, delegating responsibilities to ensure effective delivery of cost‑management activities.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the role and ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- A Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Proven experience in delivering cost management for projects or projects of comparable complexity and scale.
- Extensive experience supporting cost‑management activities within major project environments.
- Significant expertise in conceptual project budgeting, construction risk identification, scheduling, project planning, design, and cost estimating across multiple project stages.
- Strong experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders at all organisational levels, influencing process improvements and providing guidance to support effective project delivery and reporting.
