Job summary

Barclays Europe Technology is seeking a Technology Risk and Control Manager to strengthen our control environment and support regulatory and resilience priorities across the organisation. You will drive risk management, oversight and regulatory engagement in a complex technology landscape, partnering with senior stakeholders to identify, assess and remediate technology risks.

The role is based in Dublin with responsibilities spanning control assessments, documentation and escalation to drive

Job description

Join us as a Technology Risk and Control Manager at Barclays Europe Technology, where you will play a key role in strengthening our technology control environment and supporting the delivery of key regulatory and resilience priorities across the organisation.

You will help drive effective risk management, control oversight and regulatory engagement across a complex technology landscape, working closely with senior stakeholders to identify, assess and address technology risks while supporting the delivery of strategic regulatory commitments and control improvements.

To be successful as a Technology Risk and Control Manager, you should have experience with:
Required skills
  • Ample experience in Technology Risk and Controls, including the design, assessment and enhancement of technology control frameworks.
  • Experience managing regulatory, internal audit and external audit engagements, including coordinating responses and evidence collection.
  • Experience evaluating control effectiveness, identifying control gaps and driving remediation activities in a large and complex organisation.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
  • Knowledge of technology services and operational resilience within the banking and financial services sector.
  • Experience supporting regulatory programmes and engagements, including interactions with regulators and governance forums.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, reporting and stakeholder communication, including the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is located in Dublin.

Entry Salary: €77,500

Upper Salary: €113,000

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Barclays employees are also eligible for a suite of competitive country-specific benefits.

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Accountabilities
  • Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk
  • Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
  • Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
  • Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
