What’s on Offer for You?

  • Basic Salary scale between €226,681- €272,290 in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contract
  • Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)
  • Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opportunity for a variety of different work patterns
  • Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
  • 30 days annual leave

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality medical care in General Medicine to patients at this University Hospital.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and medical trainees.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call duties as per the hospital’s rota.
  • Contribute to teaching and training programmes for medical students and postgraduate trainees.

Requirements to Apply

  • Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in General (Internal) Medicine must be active and in place to secure interview
  • Extensive post-graduate experience in General Medicine.
  • Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Experience in a subspecialty area of General Medicine.
  • Proven track record in medical research and clinical teaching.
  • Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.
  • Participation in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives.
