Job summary

Cairn Homes seeks a Health and Safety Officer for a residential construction site in North Dublin. You will implement Cairn’s safety management system and report to the Health and Safety Manager.

The role requires experience, initiative, and a practical safety approach to support project delivery. Key duties include enforcing the safety system, conducting risk assessments, coordinating with site management, and improving safety standards across sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in managing safety systems in construction; includes an Occupational Health and Safety qualification.
• IOSH membership preferred.
• Ability to manage Health & Safety on-site with initiative within the management system.
• Strong relationship builder across project stakeholders and statutory bodies.
• Ability to manage risk and implement control measures.
• Able to work with contractors from diverse backgrounds and trades.
• Capable of chairing and delivering Health & Safety meetings and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Cairn Homes Construction management team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Improve Health & Safety standards within the company management system and on sites.
• Monitor and enforce Cairn Homes Health & Safety Management System on site.
• Identify site hazards and ensure they are addressed in site documentation.
• Maintain clear communication lines to the H&S Manager.
• Maintain site folders and statutory records on site.
• Ensure contractors adhere to site rules and safety requirements.
• Assist management to comply with statutory H&S requirements.
• Assist in developing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
