Amazon AWS Infrastructure Services is hiring a Construction Manager to lead complex facility projects in Ireland. You will coordinate with internal engineering teams and external contractors to scope, design, and deliver modular data centre facilities on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project/program/construction management experience.
  • Experience with large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.
  • Proven ability to deliver end-to-end projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in data centre or critical facility environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of critical electrical & mechanical equipment (Generators, UPS, Transformers, Switchgear, HVAC, CRAC, Fire/Security).
  • Lead site due diligence and evaluation across civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and IT disciplines.
  • Manage bids, proposals, and scoping documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop BRD, project plans, timelines, and resource metrics.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure design-to-delivery success.
  • Prepare monthly reviews with metrics and narratives for program governance.
  • Travel up to 25% to support global projects.

re:Cycle Reverse Logistics is looking for a talented, driven, and highly organized Construction Manager in support of Reverse Logistics programs & initiatives - working with internal customers and 3rd party engineering firms (Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural) in the coordination, development and expansion of RRL facilities (Green-field, Brown-field and Facility retrofits & upgrades.


Your goal will be to ensure that associated projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and meet the objectives outlined by stakeholders. This includes partnership with (internal) technical teams to adequately scope project deliverables, thorough data analysis and building robust BRD (business requirement documents). Lead the development (and maintenance) of \"Standard Work\" through robust BOD (basis of design) documentation. Develop monthly business reviews, with metric driven reporting that drive progress the right behaviour on project goals/execution. A successful Construction Manager will be customer centric, have a high degree of autonomy, be inquisitive and work to develop themselves to acquire a deep understanding of operational process and program objectives/SLAs.


The role plays a critical part in ensuring strategic commitments are made and operations are exceeding desired performance levels by using strong leadership, clear written and verbal communication and focused metrics to drive execution and accountability.


As a Construction Manager, you find clear paths through roadblocks, provide escalation management, anticipate & make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. You will have an ability to take large, complex programs and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional and technical user specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical thinking and leadership are essential to success in this role.


Key job responsibilities


  • Demonstrate solid (foundational) knowledge of critical Mechanical & Electrical equipment - Generator(s), UPS/BBU, Transformer(s), Switchgear, Busduct, HVAC, Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling Units, Fire Detection/Suppression, Security Systems, CCTV and ELV cabling.

  • Lead site due diligence process in determining the fit-for-purpose/suitability criteria in site evaluation across reflective disciplines - permitting/planning, civil, architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical and IT.

  • Determine and communicate site requirements that could impact schedule, cost, delivery of the project and its delivery.

  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and potentially other partners to evaluate bids, proposals, and scoping documents for completeness, detail and accuracy.

  • Manage GC and other third-party vendors delivering pre-construction services during the design phase.

  • Develop business requirements documents (BRD), comprehensive project plans, including timelines, and resource efficiency measurements.

  • Define construction scopes and request for proposals to General Contractors. Review bid summaries, schedules and milestones, pricing, in subcontractor level bid evaluations.

  • Support issuance of contracting documents (i.e., Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Work Letters, Construction Insurance).

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, including Technical Engineering, Operations, Commercials, Customer, and Finance leadership. Regularly communicate project status, milestones, and risks, and address any concerns or feedback in a timely manner.

  • Coordination of global monthly business reviews with associated metrics and narrative including document writing and presentations to influence necessary business actions benefiting program adoption and further global expansion.

  • Partnership with reporting teams to develop new reporting & metrics to monitor efficiencies and SLA commitments.

  • Develop handoff project documentation to Construction Manager partners.

  • Collect, evaluate, and share lessons learned to direct teammates, and peers in design, and construction teams to achieve continuous improvement across the entire program.

  • Availability to 25% travel.

Basic Qualifications


  • Experience working on and delivering end to end projects independently

  • 7+ years of project management/ portfolio management/ program management / construction management.

  • 5+ years of experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.

  • 5+ experience of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.

  • Experience with varying stages of infrastructure builds - inclusive of project builds, spanning from Design to Project Hand-off.

  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to facility infrastructure build (i.e. construction sequence, commissioning, controls and networking).

  • The ability to work independently and self‑motivate in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Strong organizational, analytical & problem‑solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and manage stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree or advanced professional certifications in management of complex, high value technology infrastructure projects.

  • 5+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience.

  • Industrial Engineering experience for manufacturing equipment layout optimization and delivery of manufacturing infrastructure builds.

  • Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies.

  • Experience of leading matrixed teams and individuals across multiple locations.
