Our client is a leading renewable energy developer delivering utility-scale clean energy infrastructure across Ireland and the UK. With a substantial portfolio of renewable projects in development, construction and operation, the business is playing a key role in supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system.
As project activity continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a significant onshore wind energy project in Ireland.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Manager will take ownership of all construction activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring the safe, efficient and successful delivery of the wind farm.
This role will be required onsite for 4/5 days per week. Any over-night stays are to be handled and paid for, by the individual themselves.
This role will oversee the coordination of civil, electrical and mechanical works, managing contractors and key stakeholders while ensuring programme, budget, quality and HSE objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site construction activities from mobilisation through to commissioning.
- Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Drive a strong culture of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.
- Ensure construction activities are delivered in accordance with programme milestones and project budgets.
- Coordinate the delivery of roads, foundations, crane hardstands, cable installation, substations and turbine erection activities.
- Manage contractor performance through regular site inspections, audits and progress reviews.
- Identify and mitigate construction risks, delays and technical challenges.
- Oversee quality control processes and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Liaise with landowners, local authorities, consultants and regulatory bodies as required.
- Provide regular reporting to senior project stakeholders on progress, risks and performance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years' experience managing large-scale infrastructure, energy or renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience delivering wind farm, power generation, utilities or heavy civil engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of Irish construction legislation and health & safety regulations.
- Experience managing multiple contractors on complex construction projects.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience working under NEC, FIDIC or equivalent contracts.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Full driving licence and willingness to be site-based.
- Previous onshore wind farm construction experience.
- Experience managing turbine installation packages.
- Grid connection or substation delivery experience.
- Membership of Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body.
- Environmental and ecological compliance experience within renewable energy projects.
