Job summary

JD Ross Energy seeks an experienced Construction Manager to lead an onshore wind project in Ireland, reporting to the Project Director. You will own all site construction activities, coordinating civil, electrical and mechanical works and managing EPC contractors on a large-scale development.

The role is on site 4/5 days a week, with overnight stays paid by the individual. Strong HSE leadership and stakeholder engagement are essential to meet milestones, budgets and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience managing large-scale infrastructure, energy or renewable energy projects.
  • Proven experience delivering wind farm, power generation, utilities or heavy civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of Irish construction legislation and health & safety regulations.
  • Experience managing multiple contractors on complex construction projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness with NEC/FIDIC or equivalent contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to be site-based.
  • Previous onshore wind farm construction experience.
  • Experience managing turbine installation packages and grid connection/substation delivery.
  • Membership of Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body.
  • Environmental and ecological compliance experience within renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all site construction activities from mobilisation through to commissioning.
  • Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Drive a strong culture of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.
  • Ensure construction activities are delivered in line with programme milestones and budgets.
  • Coordinate roads, foundations, crane hardstands, cable installation, substations and turbine erection.
  • Manage contractor performance through regular site inspections and progress reviews.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks, delays and technical challenges.
  • Oversee quality control and compliance with project specifications.
  • Liaise with landowners, authorities, consultants and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior project stakeholders on progress and performance.

Construction Manager - Grid Projects - Electrical and Civil - Ireland

About the Company

Our client is a leading renewable energy developer delivering utility-scale clean energy infrastructure across Ireland and the UK. With a substantial portfolio of renewable projects in development, construction and operation, the business is playing a key role in supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system.

As project activity continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a significant onshore wind energy project in Ireland.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Manager will take ownership of all construction activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring the safe, efficient and successful delivery of the wind farm.

This role will be required onsite for 4/5 days per week. Any over-night stays are to be handled and paid for, by the individual themselves.

This role will oversee the coordination of civil, electrical and mechanical works, managing contractors and key stakeholders while ensuring programme, budget, quality and HSE objectives are achieved.
