Stripe is seeking an experienced compliance advisor to scale our crypto/stablecoin business by embedding compliance intelligence into our technical infrastructure. You will act as a strategic partner across GTM, Risk, and Ops to enable users while upholding rigorous regulatory standards.

You will lead the development of automated tools, guide complex user challenges, and communicate compliance requirements with authority and empathy in a fast-paced, global environment.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in financial crimes compliance, with significant crypto/stablecoin exposure.

About The Team

As a regulated business, our second line of defense team plays a critical role in ensuring Stripe operates as a responsible steward of the financial ecosystem. You will join the Product and User Enablement (ProUse) team, acting as a trusted compliance advisor to our first line business teams (e.g., GTM, Risk, Ops) to help scale our crypto/stablecoin business and grow our user base globally.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an experienced compliance advisor who is fluent in both compliance regulations and commercial reality. You will not just be a specialized advisor, but a strategic partner responsible for scaling our business by embedding compliance intelligence directly into our technical infrastructure to support our users.

You will be the bridge between Stripe’s compliance obligations and our users' ambitious goals, moving away from manual, person-dependent models toward a dynamic, agentic structure.

You will provide expert guidance for our complex user challenges to actively shape them. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design user solutions that both support users' growing journey with Stripe and satisfy compliance rigor.

Stripe is both a technology company and a financial services company. You will need to be comfortable straddling those worlds every day, moving quickly in the face of ambiguity to help scale our business globally.

Responsibilities

• Partner deeply with GTM and business teams for complex user deals to identify compliance roadblocks early and design the "path to yes" that aligns with our risk appetite.
• Drive local adoption and development of automated compliance tools/agents. You will be responsible for surfacing nuances, providing feedback for improvement, and ensuring these tools operate reliably for first line teams.
• Act as the lead human-in-the-loop for novel challenges and high-stakes edge cases, using first-principles thinking to navigate regulatory ambiguity where no clear playbook exists.
• Deploy strategically as a subject matter expert to explain intricate compliance requirements to users and first line teams with authority, clarity, and empathy.
• Work with users and internal teams to architect flows — funds flow, data collection, API integration — that meet compliance obligations while minimizing friction.
• Analyze complex edge cases to distinguish between "unfamiliar" and "unsafe", pushing the boundaries of existing norms to maintain a competitive edge for Stripe
• Articulate and socialize our innovative compliance approach with key external and internal stakeholders, including Regional Compliance Officers and MLROs.

Who You Are

Minimum Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in financial crimes compliance, with significant time spent specifically in the crypto and stablecoin space.
• Sufficient technical understanding to identify automation opportunities and shape agentic solutions that drive compliance.
• A proclivity for curiosity and the ability to develop robust, risk-based opinions in areas that lack clear precedent
• Experience evaluating complex user requests for compliance risk and working with business stakeholders to implement creative solutions to enable users while meeting compliance requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex compliance concepts into clear, commercial language for different stakeholders across the business, as well as with users directly
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating leadership and interpersonal working relationships
• The ability to work efficiently and independently in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and increasingly agentic environment.

Nice to haves

• CAMS, CRCM or equivalent certification
• Experience in a hyper-growth tech or fintech environment.
• Working knowledge of crypto regulatory frameworks and standard AML/sanction practices, and a good understanding of the types of compliance matters applicable to a company like Stripe
• AI/Agentic Experience: Understanding of how to leverage LLMs or automated AI tooling to scale compliance work

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €121,600 - €182,400. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
