Job summary

Dornan is recruiting a Commissioning Manager (predominantly electrical biased) for a major hyperscale data centre project just outside Dublin. You will lead planning, coordination, and delivery of commissioning activities, ensuring systems are tested, inspected, and ready for handover.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will oversee commissioning across the project, manage subcontractors and project teams, and ensure documentation and RAMS are thorough and compliant with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or trade qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering.
• Commissioning certification beneficial.
• Strong IT skills (MS Office, BIM 360).
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar management role.
• Strong knowledge of M&E standards, codes, and commissioning methodologies.
• Ability to produce detailed reports, documentation and handover materials.
• Candidates must have full working rights for Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical commissioning activities to deliver fully tested and operational M&E systems to the client.
• Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to support the successful delivery of building services systems.
• Manage subcontractor testing and commissioning activities, including witnessing tests and reviewing documentation.
• Identify commissioning requirements, including specialist test equipment and resources.
• Support the preparation and review of Commissioning and Testing RAMS.
• Carry out quality inspections during pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with other trades to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Resolve commissioning issues quickly and ensure all deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate commissioning reports and documentation.
• Ensure all personnel involved in commissioning activities meet required EHS training and safety standards.

Dornan is looking to appoint a Commissioning Manager (predominately Electrical biased) for a major hyperscale data centre project just outside of Dublin.

We are a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor delivering complex projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Commissioning Manager will lead and coordinate all mechanical commissioning activities, managing subcontractors, direct labour, and communicating progress to key stakeholders.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, the M&E Commissioning Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are inspected, tested, and commissioned in line with project specifications and industry standards.

• Previous experience communicating on the projects progress to key stakeholders, such as the project director, client, architects, engineers.
• Ability to priorities workload.
• Recognises own strengths and weaknesses and committed to ongoing development.
• Acceptance of responsibility and accountability.
