Job summary

GerTEK Project Management and Technical Services is seeking a Commissioning Lead to drive execution and on-time handover of hyperscale data centre projects. The role emphasizes master scheduling, milestone tracking, and IST across Levels 0–5, coordinating with clients, main contractors, and vendors to ensure readiness and budget adherence.

You will manage multi-discipline teams, optimize FAT/SAT/IST windows, monitor critical paths, and deliver detailed progress dashboards for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Project Management.
• 5+ years leading commissioning on hyperscale or large data centre projects.
• Proven scheduling with Primavera P6 or MS Project; digital commissioning platforms (BIM 360, ACC).
• Strong understanding of MEP, BMS/EPMS, and life-safety testing sequences.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills with multi-vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain baseline commissioning schedules across all project phases (Level 0-5 IST).
• Monitor critical path activities and mitigate timeline risks.
• Coordinate testing windows (FAT, SAT, IST) and resource planning.
• Lead milestone reviews, look-ahead meetings, and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Oversee testing, documentation, and punch list resolution for handover dates.

Role Summary

The Commissioning Lead is responsible for driving the successful execution, rigorous timeline management, and seamless handover of mission-critical data centre infrastructure projects. This role focuses heavily on master scheduling, milestone tracking, and schedule risk mitigation across all commissioning phases (Levels 0 to 5), ensuring project milestones and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) are completed on time and within budget. The Commissioning Lead will manage multidisciplinary teams, align vendor delivery timelines with the master schedule, and coordinate with clients, main contractors, and specialist vendors to guarantee operational readiness and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enforce detailed baseline commissioning schedules across all project phases (Level 0-5 IST), ensuring strict alignment with the overall project delivery timeline and client milestones.
• Monitor critical path activities, track progress against key deliverables, and proactively identify timeline risks or bottlenecks, implementing effective mitigation strategies to prevent project delays.
• Coordinate multi-vendor testing windows, resource planning, and equipment availability to optimize schedule performance during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and IST.
• Lead regular milestone progress reviews, schedule look-ahead meetings, and dashboard reporting for project leadership, clients, and key stakeholders.
• Oversee testing, documentation, and punch list resolution to streamline handover sequences and ensure compliance with target completion dates for critical MEP, BMS/EPMS, and life safety systems.
• Enforce site safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and schedule management discipline across all commissioning activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent practical industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading commissioning delivery on hyperscale or large colocation data centre infrastructure projects with a proven track record of on-time project completion.
• Demonstrated expertise in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and digital commissioning platforms (BIM 360, ACC) for tracking progress and managing dependencies.
• Strong technical understanding of critical MEP, BMS/EPMS, and life safety system testing procedures and sequencing requirements.
• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage complex schedules across multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors under tight timelines.
• Strong communication skills for presenting schedule metrics, reporting milestone statuses, and managing stakeholder expectations.
