Winthrop Technologies seeks a Senior Commercial Manager to join our central commercial function in Dublin. The role supports the Commercial Director with high-level analysis, ensuring consistency across regions and strengthening performance.

You will operate autonomously, challenge assumptions, and present clear recommendations to leadership. The role is based at our Ballymount office with occasional travel to project locations across Europe.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in commercial roles within construction.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong analytical, contractual and commercial acumen.
• Independent worker with proactive solutions.
• Experience in procurement oversight, CVR analysis and dispute support.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of commercial processes, forecasting and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Support Commercial Director with structured analysis and decision summaries.
• Lead monthly project CVR reviews, highlight movements, risks and opportunities.
• Drive alignment of commercial processes across regions.
• Review procurement activity with Estimating and challenge variances.
• Provide lessons learned to Estimating and Operations.
• Carry out commercial and contractual reviews for client and subcontractor agreements.
• Support issues, claims and disputes with factual analysis and recommendations.
• Contribute to commercial team development and recruitment.
• Oversee centralized procurement initiatives and supply chain performance.
• Monitor project correspondence to ensure contract compliance and clear communication.
• Drive process improvements and technology adoption.

We are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our central commercial function.

Located primarily at our central office in Ballymount, Dublin with occasional travel to project locations across Europe will be required.

This newly created role will report directly to the Commercial Director by supporting and providing high‑level commercial analysis, improving consistency across regions, and strengthening commercial performance across the business. The successful candidate will be capable of operating autonomously, challenging assumptions, and presenting clear, insightful recommendations to leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as senior support to the Commercial Director, providing structured analysis and clear decision‑making summaries
• Lead detailed reviews of monthly project CVRs, highlighting movements, anomalies, risks, and opportunities
• Identify inconsistencies in commercial processes and drive alignment across regions
• Work with Estimating to review procurement activity and challenge variances against tender strategy
• Provide regular lessons‑learned insights into Estimating and Operations
• Carry out detailed commercial and contractual reviews for both client and subcontractor agreements
• Support complex commercial issues, claims, and disputes by gathering facts, analysing positions, and preparing recommendations
• Contribute to commercial team development, graduate programmes, and recruitment
• Lead centralised procurement initiatives and oversee supply chain performance and usage
• Monitor project correspondence to support contract compliance and quality of communication
• Drive process improvements and support technology adoption.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in commercial roles within the construction industry, ideally within a main contracting environment although some specialist subcontracting and / or client-side experience is a definite advantage.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (or equivalent)
• Strong analytical, contractual, and commercial acumen
• Proven ability to work independently and bring forward proactive solutions
• Experience in procurement oversight, CVR analysis, and dispute/claim support
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong understanding of commercial processes, forecasting, and supplier management
