Job summary

RELX INC is seeking an Engineer to join the Data Platform team in Dublin. You will help support and evolve cloud-based database platforms powering critical services in an AWS environment.

You will develop expertise across cloud infrastructure, automation, reliability, performance engineering, and Infrastructure as Code, collaborating with experienced engineers and stakeholders to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in database engineering or related infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Relational DB tech including MySQL and Aurora.
• Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup and recovery.
• Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Linux administration and scripting (ideally Python).
• Version control with Git.
• Security best practices in platform design and operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and evolve cloud database platforms in AWS.
• Design and implement scalable, resilient, secure systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges with engineers.
• Monitor, analyse, and optimise database and platform performance.
• Automate operational processes with IaC and DevOps practices.
• Support backup, recovery and business continuity capabilities.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve performance and security.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams and stakeholders.
