Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a dedicated care assistant to support registered nurses and deliver high-quality patient care in a busy ward environment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, carry out planned tasks, assist with admissions and procedures, and help maintain hygiene, safety, and comfort for patients.

The role requires SVQ III in healthcare or equivalent experience, excellent communication, teamwork, and a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence.

Qualifications

SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience.
Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

Responsibilities

Carry out assigned tasks to deliver and support direct patient care under direction of a registered nurse.
Assist in preparation of patients for procedures and with admissions/transfers/discharges.
Assist in collection of routine urine/blood specimens.
Monitor and order supplies and carry out housekeeping duties to support patient care.
Provide escort duties as required and undertake recording of patient vital signs.
Support rehabilitation and communicate changes in patients' needs to the team.
