Job summary

St. Vincent's University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist for the Emergency Department In The Home (EDITH) Service within the Occupational Therapy Department.

The role requires substantial experience, leadership and involvement in audit, outcome measurement and research. The successful candidate will support complex care for older adults across acute and community interfaces, with extended hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• Qualified for at least five years, with a minimum of three consecutive years’ clinical experience in older persons’ care.
• Experience in emergency care, outpatient services, or integrated care models is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an expert Occupational Therapy service to meet the complex needs of older adults across acute and community interfaces.
• Participate in extended hours, including shift and weekend work, to support timely and responsive care.
• Lead and contribute to service development, quality improvement, and research.
• Drive continuous advancement of clinical practice through audit, outcome measurement and evidence integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Candidates must be qualified for at least five years, with a minimum of three consecutive years’ clinical experience in older persons’ care.
• Experience in emergency care, outpatient services, or integrated care models is desirable.
• The Clinical Specialist will deliver an expert Occupational Therapy service to meet the complex needs of older adults across acute and community interfaces.
• The role includes participation in extended hours, including shift and weekend work, to support timely and responsive care. The existing shift pattern operates on a four-week rolling rota. However, this may be subject to change at any time to meet service demands and/or to cover colleagues’ leave.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and clinical capabilities beyond senior grade level, particularly in service development, quality improvement, and research.
• A key focus will be the continuous advancement of clinical practice through audit, outcome measurement, and integration of the latest evidence.
• The post-holder will lead and contribute to the ongoing development of their specialist area and wider departmental initiatives.
• The postholder will require a full clean driving licence.
