Qualifications

We are currently recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Oncology Oral Chemo Unit for a hospital in Galway, Ireland . This is a F ull-time Permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join a dynamic oncology team and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the clinical pathway for oncology patients receiving oral anti-cancer therapies, ensuring safe, timely and patient-centred care.

Provide advanced clinical triage and act as an escalation point for complex SACT-related toxicities, using NCCP grading protocols to guide treatment holds, emergency referrals and admissions.

Oversee the daily operation of the OAM and, where required, Infusion Clinic, including nursing resource allocation, clinic scheduling, rostering and effective multidisciplinary workflows.

Coordinate communication between hospital consultants, oncology pharmacists, GPs and community pharmacists to support safe medication management and continuity of care.

Promote the effective use of the National Cancer Information System (NCIS) and lead clinical audits, risk management and quality improvement activities in line with NMBI, HIQA and JCI standards.

Develop, review and implement nursing policies, SOPs and guidelines relating to oral anti-cancer medicines, hazardous drug handling, medication safety and clinical governance.

Lead and support nursing staff through supervision, performance reviews, education and mentorship, identifying training needs and facilitating relevant NCCP training programmes and student placements.

Requirements

Be registered in the General Division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and hold a current, valid NMBI Active Practice PIN.

Hold a BSc in General Nursing (NFQ Level 8) or an equivalent recognised nursing qualification.

Hold a recognised Postgraduate Diploma or Master's qualification in Oncology Nursing or Cancer Care (NFQ Level 9).

Have completed or be currently undertaking the NCCP Oral Anti-Cancer Medicines Training Programme, with completion of the recognised IIOP-NCCP Oral Anti-Cancer Medicines course preferred.

Have a minimum of 5 years' post-registration nursing experience, including at least 3 years in acute oncology, haematology or an ambulatory SACT infusion setting.

Demonstrate proven clinical leadership experience, such as CNM1, CNS or Senior Staff Nurse acting-up experience, with strong skills in clinical governance and service delivery.

Demonstrate experience in change management, service planning and quality improvement, with a commitment to undertake relevant management training where required.
