Job summary

Blackrock Health at The Galway Clinic is seeking a CNM 2 for the Cath Lab to lead clinical care and operations in a high-standard cardiac environment. You will coordinate, assess and review patient care, while supervising staff and ensuring policy compliance.

Applicants should hold NMBI registration, a cardiology postgraduate degree, and a minimum of five years Cath Lab experience. A management qualification is desirable; strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, assess, plan, implement and review care for service users according to standards.
• Take Clinical in charge role daily with CNM colleagues.
• Develop and maintain nursing standards, protocols, and guidelines.
• Participate in teams; communicate and cooperate with staff.
• Maintain a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.
• Support CNM III/ADON in running assigned areas.
• Observe and ensure policy compliance (H&S, Radiation Safety, infection control).
• Report and address issues affecting patient care and service delivery.
• Engage in CPD; keep up with nursing literature and developments.
• Provide leadership for staff in the Cath Lab and Non-Invasive Cardiopathy Evaluation.
• Supervise and develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of staff.
• Engage in performance reviews and development planning with CNM III.
• Exercise authority in running the assigned areas with CNMIII.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and hospital policies.
• Maintain good relationships with other departments, patients and families.

CNM 2 – Cath Lab (Permanent, Full-time, 37.5 hours pw)

The Role

• Responsibility for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation and review of care for service users according to service standards and monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes.
• Take Clinical in charge role on a daily basis in conjunction with CNM colleagues.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of patient care.
• Participate in teams as appropriate, communication and working in co-operation with other team members.
• Play a central role in maintaining a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.
• To provide support and assistance to the CNM III in the running of the assigned area(s).
• Assist in observing and ensuring implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, Radiation Safety, infection control, storage and use of controlled drugs etc.
• Observe, Report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to service user care or well being /may be inhibiting the efficient provision of care
• Engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with nursing literature, recent nursing research and new developments in nursing management, education and practice and to attend staff study days as considered appropriate.
• Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership and direction for the staff in the cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Non- Invasive cardiology Evaluation Department while supporting the goals of the department.
• Provide supervision and assist in the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes of staff
• Engage in performance review processes including personal development planning with CNM III/ADON
• Exercise authority in the running of the assigned area(s) in conjunction with the CNMIII.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements, policies and procedures affecting service users, staff and other hospital matters
• Maintain good working relationships with other departments, patients and families
• Ensure professional and personal persona positively reflects the profession of nursing and Galway Clinic.

The Candidate

• Current registration with NMBI
• Cardiology post graduate degree essential and management qualification also desirable
• Minimum of 5 years Cath Lab experience required or must hold a specialist course
• Have proven Clinical, Leadership, Managerial & Customer Care skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
