Job summary

Blackrock Clinic is the leading private hospital in Ireland and part of Blackrock Health. We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to support nurse managers in planning, coordinating and delivering high-quality care across the unit within a private hospital setting.

The role emphasizes nursing leadership, staff coordination and clinical governance, with a focus on quality improvement, patient safety and collaboration with medical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Registered in the general division of NMBI.
• At least five years post registration experience, two of which must be recent in the relevant area.
• Have an appropriate qualification or management experience relevant to the post.
• Evidence of personal professional development.

Responsibilities

• Providing a high level of professional and clinical leadership.
• Evaluate and develop, lead and manage the implementation of best practice policy and procedures.
• Be willing to share personnel when requested with other wards or Hospital Departments if requested.
• Demonstrate flexibility if and when asked to work in other areas as needed.
• Provide appropriate reports as required.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and safety.
• Scheduling unit personnel in a manner that promotes optimal use of staff, taking into account unit activity, annual leave, sickness, absences etc.
• Allocating nursing and support staff in an appropriate manner to meet the workload and ensuring continuity of care whilst operating within allocated resources.
• Participating in the recruitment and orientation of personnel, appropriate to the needs of the department.
• Promote and nurture a high level of staff morale, there by promoting team spirit and job satisfaction among nursing staff and other staff in the unit.
• The assessment and identification of training and development needs for nursing within the unit by setting objectives for learning and contribution to the development training programmes where appropriate.
• Delegating professional duties to staff recognizing the professional competency of individuals.
• Collaborating with hospital personnel and other healthcare providers in planning care.
• Serving on committees within the hospital as appropriate.
• Maintaining effective communication networks within the unit and departments throughout the hospital.

ROLE PURPOSE
