Claims Advocate

What the day will look like

Aon are currently recruiting a Senior Claims Advocate to join our busy Broker Claims Division based in Dublin, reporting to the Claims Team Leader. This is a highly engaged and experienced team with emphasis on developing each colleague to their maximum potential.

The Claims Advocate will be primarily responsible for first notification of loss, client updates throughout the life-cycle of a reported matter, advocating on behalf of our clients and liaison with placement teams, specialists, network offices, clients, underwriters and appointed experts along with ad hoc projects which may arise.

Main responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance on coverage to facilitate the settlement and payment of claims on behalf of clients
  • Facilitate the resolution of any outstanding coverage issues, with the support of the Claims Team Management
  • Coordinate discussions and, where appropriate, meetings, to ensure superior level of communication between the client, underwriter and their representatives concerning the proposed settlement
  • Assist in the negotiation for payment and settlement of claims with clients and underwriters
  • Monitor and liaise with third party providers appointed by clients or underwriters (e.g. loss adjusters, lawyers, surveyors, engineers etc.)
  • Technical support for pre-renewal meetings, placing and renewal negotiations
  • Willingness to take other duties that may arise and are deemed appropriate by Aon Management
How this opportunity is different

As a Claims Advocate you will be primarily responsible for the management of the day-to-day fulfilment of the broker claims strategy and key processes for the notification, agreement, collection and successful settlement of clients’ claims. This will include first notification of loss, negotiation with markets, client updates, subsequent movements and liaison with placement teams, specialists, network offices, clients, underwriters and appointed experts (loss adjusters, lawyers etc). Full responsibility for the contribution in setting and managing the strategy to satisfactorily conclude sensitive claims in tandem with the Claims Team Leader.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

The ideal Claims Advocate should have:

  • 5+ experience of relevant claims and/or advocacy-based insurance experience. Experience in Financial Lines, Professional Services and product recall claims is desired.
  • Minimum CIP qualification ideally with a view to progressing towards the MDI/ACII qualification
  • Must be ‘Accredited’ under the Minimum Competency Requirements, and provide evidence of CPD returns
  • Strong knowledge of claims coverage issues and wordings with particular reference to Financial Lines / Professional Services
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of claims management process, insurance markets, legal and regulatory environment and the skills to act as an advocate for our Clients
  • Team player and the ability to work on own initiative
  • Have a strong customer focus and a keen eye for detail
