Job summary

Glanua is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to be based in Ballymore Eustace. You will join a team delivering multiple water and wastewater projects across Ireland, contributing to on-site execution and technical delivery.

The role requires HSQE compliance, design reviews, setting out with GPS and total stations, and collaboration with consultants, subcontractors and site staff. A Civil Engineering degree and 2 years' experience are essential, plus a driving licence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering and at least 2 years in a similar role.
• Experience in water and wastewater projects preferred.
• Proficient with GPS, total stations, CAD and MS Office.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team delivering multiple projects.
• Ensure HSQE standards on-site.
• Be familiar with HSQE system and statutory requirements.
• Provide coverage if the project manager is absent; manage day-to-day site operations.
• Monitor programme and budgets and understand overruns' impact.
• Review designs and develop solutions to design issues.
• Use GPS, total station and 3D scanner for setting out.
• Complete technical reports, safety files, and monthly progress reports.
• Ensure materials and workmanship meet requirements.
• Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, site staff and commercial resources.
• Lead weekly site meetings and plan deliveries.
• Interact with employer's representatives and the public.
• Maintain CPD and mentor junior staff.

Civil Project Engineer

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.
• Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
• Be familiar with the HSQE management system and procedures in conjunction with the current statutory requirements
• Be available and willing to provide coverage should the project manager be absent for any reason, assuming the role of managing the day-to-day operation of the site
• Need to be familiar with programme and budgets for the project, fully understanding the impact any overruns shall have on the project
• Review and develop specifications and design drawings, have the ability to develop solutions to design based issues.
• Use of GPS, total station and 3D scanner for setting out and collection of As Built information
• Completion of technical reports and quality documentation, input to safety files and O&M and completion of monthly progress reports
• Ensuring design, materials and workmanship is in line with the specified requirements
• Utilising procurement software to ensure materials and subcontracts are ordered/ awarded as and when required
• Liaise with relevant consultants, subcontractors, site staff, commercial resources and the general site team involved in the project
• Completion of weekly whiteboard meetings on site, planning the efficient and safe delivery of works
• Day to day interaction with the employer’s representatives, stakeholders and members of the public
• Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
• Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff. Glanua has a proven track record of developing graduates from college through to director level within the organisation

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings and engage with suppliers and sub-contractors at procurement stage and in the delivery of their scope of supply during contract delivery.
• Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
• Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the use of GPS, total station and CAD.
• Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
• Full driving licence.
