Job summary

Elite Talent Hub is representing a leading international engineering and construction contractor seeking an experienced Civil Estimator in Kildare, Ireland. Qualifications

• Bachelor/degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
• Proven experience as Civil Estimator, Senior Estimator or similar in civil/infrastructure projects.
• Experience with roads/highways, utilities, earthworks and major infrastructure works.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil/infrastructure projects.
• Review tender docs, drawings, specs and BOQ to establish project requirements.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and develop cost breakdowns for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Estimate earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, reinforced concrete and structures.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for quotations.
• Assess methodologies, programmes, site logistics and temporary works for estimates.
• Identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities during tendering.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, procurement and commercial teams on tender strategy.
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings and client clarification meetings.
• Support preparation of technical and commercial tender submissions.
• Maintain estimating records and cost databases.

My client, a leading international engineering and construction contractor, is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join its Transportation & Infrastructure division, based in Kildare.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business with a strong reputation for delivering complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the pre-construction and tendering process, preparing competitive and commercially robust estimates for major infrastructure projects.

Working closely with the estimating, engineering, commercial and operational teams, you will contribute to securing new projects across transportation, utilities, public infrastructure and civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities to establish project requirements.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and develop detailed cost breakdowns for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Prepare estimates for earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, reinforced concrete, structures and associated civil works.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate competitive quotations.
• Assess construction methodologies, programme requirements, temporary works and site logistics to develop accurate estimates.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions during the tendering process.
• Work closely with engineering, planning, procurement and commercial teams to develop competitive tender strategies.
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings, tender reviews and client clarification meetings.
• Support the preparation of technical and commercial tender submissions.
• Maintain accurate estimating records, cost databases and benchmarking information.
• Assist with tender handovers to project delivery teams following successful contract awards.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a Civil Estimator, Senior Estimator or commercially focused civil engineering role.
• Strong background working with civil engineering contractors or infrastructure delivery organisations.
• Experience estimating projects involving roads, highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks, reinforced concrete or major infrastructure works.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, labour productivity, plant requirements and subcontractor procurement.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
• Experience using estimating software, Excel and other construction-related systems.
• Familiarity with public works contracts, NEC or other infrastructure contract forms would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have a solid civil engineering background, with experience pricing and tendering for infrastructure projects.

Candidates currently working as Civil Estimators, Senior Estimators, Civil Quantity Surveyors or Civil Project Engineers with significant estimating experience are encouraged to apply.
