Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Overview

This is a developmental opportunity; no experience is necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. The NWCDP aims to empower people in the community to develop and reach their full potential and participate fully in society by providing appropriate supports and resources in a safe environment.

Role Purpose: The position will be with Little Treasurers Community Crèche, Dublin 1. The aim of this programme is to provide you with the opportunity of acquiring knowledge in the area of childcare whilst gaining experience working in a Childcare Setting. QQ1 level 5 & 6 Childcare qualification provided which will enable you to obtain employment in childcare. Candidates must be prepared to dedicate themselves to classes and study. Genuine interest in working with children, flexibility and a good level of English is required. Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Childcare worker
  • Assist with daily activities to meet the needs of children in your care
  • Assist with organising, supervising & monitoring children’s play, arts & crafts, etc.
  • Keep records on individual children, including daily observations & information about activities, meals served and medications administered
  • Assist children in health & personal habits such as eating, resting and toileting
  • Participate in storytelling sessions
  • When required, assist in preparing food for children, serve meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods
  • Any other duties that may be assigned during the 4-week period
Qualifications
  • Genuine interest in working with children, flexibility and a good level of English is required
  • QQI Level 5 & 6 in Childcare provided
  • Willingness to dedicate time to classes and study
  • Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form
  • Must be prepared to undergo Garda vetting and comply with safeguarding requirements
