Job summary

Cuan is seeking a Principal Officer - Head of Research & Data to lead strategic research and data initiatives within Ireland’s DSGBV framework. You will shape the multi-year research programme, govern data governance, and translate insights for policy, services and campaigns.

You will build and lead a high-performing team, establish collaborations with government, academia and civil society, and represent Cuan nationally and internationally. This role shapes Ireland’s DSGBV response.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications in a related discipline.
• At least 5 years’ senior management experience in research, analytics, or policy environment.
• Experience in strategic planning, project delivery, research management (commissioning, governance, ethics, evaluation, knowledge translation) and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven track record establishing and managing new teams/functions to deliver results, with experience leading multiple research and data projects across methodologies.
• Strong understanding of DSGBV, ideally with PhD or experience across academic domains relevant to DSGBV; experience working with government and agencies on research and data strategy is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of all research and data initiatives.
• Create and deliver strategic vision for research under the DSGBV Agency Act.
• Commission and manage research, develop the national DSGBV data landscape, ensure governance, translate insights for strategy and campaigns.
• Build and lead a high-performing research and data team, foster partnerships with academia, government and civil society, represent Cuan nationally and internationally.
• Influence Ireland’s response to DSGBV by embedding evidence, impact and lived experience into the Agency’s work.
