Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Limerick, Ireland, is seeking a Characterization / Evaluation Engineer to lead system-level characterization of reader systems for the Biosensors Team.

You will own test definition, execution and analysis to validate performance and readiness for manufacturing and handover to external partners. The role requires strong background in hardware/system characterization, multi-domain sensing, and data analysis using Python or MATLAB.

• Develop test fixtures, rigs, and automation for repeatable data capture.
• Support FAI and manufacturing validation for external builds.

Characterization / Evaluation Engineer - Reader Systems

Role Summary

Lead system-level characterization of a complex electromechanical instrument platforms for the Biosensors Team. Own test definition, execution, and analysis to validate performance, robustness, and readiness for manufacturing and external partner handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end reader characterization strategy (system and sub-system)
• Define test plans, methods, and acceptance criteria aligned to requirements
• Execute validation across electrical, mechanical, optical, and fluidic domains
• Lead reliability testing (lifetime, stress, environmental) and failure analysis
• Develop test fixtures, rigs, and automation for repeatable data capture
• Support FAI and manufacturing validation for external builds
• Act as an independent verification function across design teams

Required Experience

• Strong background in hardware/system characterization or evaluation
• Experience with multi-domain systems (electronics, mechanics, sensors)
• Strong capability in test development, measurement systems, and data analysis
• Experience with reliability testing and root cause analysis
• Experience with test automation and fixture development
• Analytical tools (Python, MATLAB, Excel or equivalent)
• Electronics Design (Schematic and layout)

Desirable

• Medical device or regulated product experience (V&V, traceability)
• Experience with FAI, DFM/DFT, manufacturing validation
• Exposure to EMC or environmental testing
• C/C++ Embedded experience
