Job summary

Delta Centre CLG in Ireland is seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to provide day-to-day personal care and support for service users with intellectual disabilities. The role emphasizes respect, inclusivity, and a person‑centred approach to ensure safe and meaningful lives.

Applicants should have a FETAC Level 5 Health Care qualification and proven health care experience. Shift work across a 7‑day roster is required, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and career progression

Qualifications

Job description

Purpose of the Role:

The Care Assistant is responsible for providing day-to-day personal care and support for the service users of Delta Centre. The Care Assistant must have the desire and the belief that the person with an intellectual disability has something unique, equal, and important to offer society.

The Care Assistant, in co-operation with Management, will be responsible for ensuring that the person/s we support have good, high quality, safe, meaningful, and inclusive lives.

The position requires a high degree of understanding and commitment to the individual service user and to Delta services. The prime consideration at all times must be the interests and well-being of the individuals availing of our services.

Key Tasks:

Ensure that the life and experience of the service user reflects the core values of Delta Centre and Care Plans and that all service users.

  • Experience dignity and respect.
  • Are supported to make choices.
  • Have an opportunity to make a contribution and learn.
  • Demonstrate empathy towards Service users
  • Put into practice the details of Care Plans and Person-Centred Plans.
  • Understand and facilitate needs through the use of appropriate communication systems.
  • Assist each individual in reaching the maximum potential in independence, communication, and personal development.
  • Establish trust relationships through consistency of care.
  • Adhere to all Delta Centres Policies, Procedures, Employee Handbook and working practices.
Personal Profile:
  • This position is not eligible for employment permit sponsorship. Applicants must hold and maintain an independent legal right to work in Ireland for the duration of their employment. Delta Services does not ordinarily support or participate in employment permit applications, transfers, renewals or change-of-employer processes for this position.
Education & Training:
  • A FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Care is a requirement for this position.
Experience:
  • Experience in the field of health care is essential.
  • Proven competence in the care and support of adults with intellectual disabilities and a genuine interest in this area is required.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • A sound knowledge and proven ability to interpret and apply legislation such as The National Standards for Adults with Disabilities.
  • Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be highly motivated.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills are required.
  • Proven ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable nature
  • Shift work over 24/7.
