Job summary

Sunbeam House Services is recruiting a Full-time Care Assistant for a residential service in Bray, County Wicklow. You will support clients to achieve personal outcomes, build potential and develop positive roles within the service and community.

Hours include days, sleepovers, weekends, and unsociable shifts. Applicants must have QQI Level 5 in healthcare and a full driving licence; experience with adults with intellectual disability is desirable.

Qualifications

• Major QQI level 5 in healthcare or foreign equivalent (validated by QQI).
• Full driving licence and access to a car.
• Experience with adults with intellectual disability desirable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a person-centred approach aligned with clients’ wishes and goals.
• Promote rights, dignity and privacy of clients.
• Develop meaningful community roles and opportunities for clients.
• Support wellbeing, health and personal care of clients.
• Teach life skills such as cooking, budgeting and cleaning.

Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Care Assistant to join our services in a Residential setting in Bray, County Wicklow. As a Care Assistant, you will be involved in supporting clients to achieve their personal outcomes to build on their potential and to develop positive roles within their residential service and community. Working hours will be Monday to Sunday. Working hours will be variable including day shifts, sleepovers, weekends, and unsociable hours.

Key Responsibilities

• · To facilitate and implement a person-centered approach for our clients appropriate to their wishes and goals
• · To promote and protect the rights of people in a manner that respects their dignity, their right to make choices and their privacy
• · To actively seek new interests and opportunities for people to develop meaningful roles in their communities
• · To ensure the overall wellbeing of clients in all areas of their lives including health and personal care
• · To assist in the teaching of life skills in cooking, budgeting, cleaning & building confidence

Requirements

Applicants must hold a minimum of Major QQI level 5 in healthcare or foreign equivalent (validated by QQI)

Applicants must have:

• A passion for promoting and empowering those you support
• A team player wiling to lone work as well as working as part of a team
• A knowledge of the HIQA standards and relevant legislation
• Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car
• Post qualification experience of working with adults with intellectual disability is desirable
• A legal right to work in Ireland
