Job summary

Blackrock College is seeking a reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the Maintenance Department. The role focuses on presenting the campus to a high standard, with safety for students and staff a priority. It covers natural and artificial surfaces, entrances, lawns, shrubbery, and pedestrian routes.

Key duties include weed control, hedge pruning, lawn care, and maintaining sports surfaces. Pay is €14.65 per hour for part-time, 20 hours weekly, with on-site parking and sick pay benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or sports turf preferred.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Reliable, punctual, and a good team player.
• Willing to assist with school events and seasonal duties.
• Experience with pesticide application or irrigation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out weed control, pruning, planting, and mulching in shrubbery areas.
• Prune hedges and perform light tree pruning.
• Maintain lawns, landscaped areas, flower beds, and pedestrian routes.
• Set up and mark sports pitches and maintain surfaces.
• Mow lawns and sports pitches and operate irrigation systems.
• Carry out leaf blowing, snow clearing and disposing of debris as required.
• Support campus grounds development and safety.
