The role is field-based with one day per week in the office, travel between cafes, and a strong focus on coaching, margin awareness, and consistent service across 600 spots.

Qualifications

  • A passion for coffee.
  • Clean driver’s license.
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in coffee/hospitality.
  • Strong customer-focused attitude.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in high-volume retail hospitality is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured coffee training and coaching for café teams and baristas across the estate, ensuring all team members are confident and consistent.
  • Ensure brand guidelines, menu execution and merchandising meet Braeburn standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits, quality checks and coaching sessions to ensure drinks follow approved recipes and methods.
  • Monitor service speed KPIs and improve workflow, queue management and peak-time execution.
  • Review monthly café margin performance and investigate deviations in recipe compliance and stock management.

Café Food and Coffee Compliance Coach

Role Introduction:

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 16,000 people.

Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and, to support this ambition, we are seeking to appoint a Café Food and Coffee Compliance Coach. Reporting to the Coffee Quality Compliance Manager the successful candidate will provide coffee knowledge and guidance to our café teams to ensure we are driving transactions by serving the best coffee on the road. This role will be a field-based role with 1 day per week in the office and the rest on the road travelling around our cafes.

As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:

Coffee Quality, Training and Brand Compliance

  • Deliver structured coffee training and coaching for café teams and baristas across the estate, ensuring all team members are confident, competent and consistent in preparing the full Braeburn drinks range.
  • Assist in the setting and maintain high standards for coffee quality, drink presentation, milk texture, espresso extraction, temperature, portion control and overall product consistency in every café.
  • Conduct regular site visits, quality checks and practical coaching sessions to ensure all drinks are made to approved recipes, methods and brand standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with Braeburn brand guidelines, including menu execution, merchandising, point-of-sale standards, equipment setup, cleanliness, uniforms and customer-facing presentation.
  • Champion the customer experience by coaching teams to deliver friendly-, knowledgeable and efficient service that strengthens customer loyalty and brand reputation.
  • Monitor speed of service KPIs across café locations, identifying barriers to fast, accurate service and working with site teams to improve workflow, queue management and peak-time execution.
  • Support café teams in following all approved recipes, build guides and operating procedures to protect product quality, cost control and customer consistency.
  • Review monthly café margin performance, investigating underperformance through recipe compliance, wastage, portion control, stock management, pricing, promotional activity and operational execution.
  • Work with Operations, Area Managers and site leadership to agree corrective action plans where coffee quality, speed of service, brand compliance or margin KPIs are not being achieved.
  • Provide clear feedback, reporting and follow-up actions after site visits, ensuring accountability, continuous improvement and consistent delivery of Braeburn standards across all cafés.
  • Help identify and foster Coffee champions in each cafes that can secure a pipeline of coffee passionate people in our cafes.

The Candidate should have the following:
