Overview

This new Director will join 3 other external members and 6 student members and are particularly hoping to recruit a Director with experience in Business Development

The development of a new student centre is one of the most significant developments in the history of UL Student Life. The scheduled completion of this project is 2023, with the student centre being envisaged as the hub of student activity for all UL students.

The new centre will give UL Student Life prime opportunities for revenue generation above and beyond that what has been experienced to date

Key Features Include:

• 400m2 foyer seating / event space
• 250-seat capacity auditorium, retractable seating
• UL Wolves clothing and merchandise store
• A coffee hub
• 7 meeting rooms 50-120 capacity
• A Media Hub with 3 fully equipped broadcast ready studios for radio, tv and podcasting

UL Student Life would benefit greatly from the knowledge, advice, guidance, direction, and oversight of a new director on the Board with significant experience in business development. We are particularly interested in candidates who possess experience in the areas of conferencing, events, hospitality, retail, media, that may be able to assist the organisation in maximising business opportunities that will be available to through these new additional facilities.

General Responsibilities

• Oversee the ongoing development of UL Student Life revenue pipelines in conjunction with management and the Board.
• Develop visibility, profile, and brand of the organisation to a variety of audiences to enable it to fulfil its mission and aims.
• Support the development of commercial and business relationships in the Limerick city and county areas

Desirable skills

• The candidate must be a qualified business professional, ideally with at least 5 years senior management experience in sales/business development, strategy development, stakeholder relations and business scenario planning.
• Have an established network within business development in the private, non-profit, or public sector.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Commitment to highest levels of corporate governance
