Job description

Rock Valley Engineering Consultants specialise in technical condition reporting, M&E QA/QC, and construction management oversight. We work across commercial, industrial, residential, educational, and healthcare projects, and we’re looking for a Building Services Engineer to join us.

This is a diverse role where you’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle — from reviewing design information and coordinating M&E works on site, right through to commissioning, QA/QC audits, and client handover. The role will also involve inspecting M&E systems within buildings, reporting on their condition, developing condition reports and budget upgrade costs for clients.

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing M&E design packages, identifying gaps, and keeping information flowing to site so construction stays on track. Managing the submission and approval of drawings and technical equipment submittals.
  • Carrying out quality audits and site inspections, ensuring subcontractors meet statutory and company requirements, and assisting with BCAR submissions and compliance documentation.
  • Inspecting and verifying commissioning of MEP systems on site. Reviewing method statements, testing procedures, and O&M manuals, and making sure handover documentation is complete and on time.
  • Working closely with clients, design teams, contractors, and subcontractors. Running subcontractor meetings, keeping accurate minutes, and assisting the QS team with monthly account reviews.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years experience with a main contractor, electrical or mechanical contractor, or engineering consultancy.
  • Familiar with Mechanical, Electrical, Passenger Lifts, Sprinkler Systems and general construction.
  • Computer literate — Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Health & Safety aware.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of responsiveness and have the ability work on your own initiative.
  • Safe pass & manual handling.
  • Full licence, available to travel to sites.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary on offer.
  • Car allowance.
  • Good work-life balance.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) support.
  • Real opportunity for career progression within a growing practice.
