Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Dublin is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to deliver mechanical design solutions for data centre projects. Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in a mechanical design role, ideally with a solid background in data centre projects.
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical services including pumps and ductwork.
  • Good understanding of compliance and health & safety requirements.

Overview

About Your New Employer

Your new employer is a rapidly growing engineering consultancy that has doubled its headcount in the past 4 years and plans to increase headcount by a further 50% over the next 3-5 years. Their annual turnover is in the region of €50 million, reflecting a strong and expanding client base. They are looking for senior design engineering professionals on the mechanical and electrical side to work on data centre/industrial projects.

About Your New Job

  • As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the projects team, responsible for delivering mechanical design solutions for complex industrial projects, with the majority of them being on data centres.
  • Lead and support team members, helping them manage workloads and work efficiently.
  • Use in-depth technical knowledge to make sound decisions and solve problems quickly.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Stay on top of contract requirements to keep projects on track and prevent delays.
  • Assign tasks to maximise value, keep projects moving, and maintain team motivation.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in a mechanical design role, ideally with a solid background in data centre projects.
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical services: HVAC systems, chilled water / hot water, air-handling units, pumps, ductwork, etc.
  • Proficiency with relevant design tools (e.g. CAD software such as Revit, AutoCAD, etc.), loads & performance calculations, mechanical specifications.
  • Good understanding of compliance, performance, standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and manage design deliverables to tight schedules.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. A proactive mindset, attention to detail and willingness to mentor / lead junior designers is a plus.
